Purpose

Brief description of the web and mobile site

As people like to follow the latest information of the Chicago sports, we usually need to across several websites to catch the news is frustrated. Thus, we provide a website as a platform across-channel and presenting the recent games for people. Before the game we can find and after the game we can review, there is no complex structure to confuse sports fans. The mobile site becomes a shortcut for users to catch the condensed critical news and core calendar function. Our main scopes are as following:

1. Recent game calendar:
An integrating multiple kinds of sports calendar must be the major sweet we serve. People can easily to find their favorite sports coming games without digging pages and pages. With the utilized feature for our users, the sport searching gateway we present is straightforward.

2. Fans socialization channels:
With multiple kinds of sports channel, we invoke people can engage with their favorite team and participate in the sports news interaction. Fans have ability to respond the team events performed as news article and video with their commentaries.

3. Mobile sports-connecting:
Integrated with a mobile site, people can easily to connect to the latest news in our web application. Without turning on a computer and tedious approach procedures, the latest sports calendar shows up in their handy mobile devices.

Usability test objectives and goals

Objectives
The objective of usability test is to find out if our web and mobile sites are easy to use for different users. We want to know if the users can complete the designed tasks successfully in expected time. So we might be able to discover some usability issues of our sites and fix them.

Goals
The goal is to conduct usability testing on four users representing four different personas over three tasks. We will drive the results based on users performance on those tasks.

Persona Profiles

Matt - Primary persona

Background:

· 25 Year Old Male
· Car Salesman
· Lives in Lincoln Park
· Usually works 6 or 7 days a week

User Profile:

Matt is 23 years old living with his fiancé, Nicole. He lives a busy life as a manager at a local car dealership. When he isn't working, he is always watching sports. He is a die-hard Chicago fan. He loves going to different sporting events, but his schedule doesn't allow him to attend as often as he'd like. He doesn't care what sport it is, he is just always pulling for his home team. He tries to check game times on his cell phone, but says it takes to long so he usually just gives up.

General Attributes:

· Enjoys concerts, sporting events, and nightlife
· Very busy with work
· Getting married in a year
· Loves watching sports

Representative User Needs:

· Would like an easy way to find game times
· Wishes he could check on multiple teams in one place
· Would like an easy way to see game scores

Jenna - Secondary persona

Background:

· 30 Year Old Female
· Kitchen Designer
· Lives in Gold Coast

User Profile:

Jenna is married and a mother of one. She has an extreme attention to detail and likes to plan out her days. Her husband is a typical manly man, always watching sports. This can lead to agitation for Jenna because she never knows when her husband is going to be 'busy' watching a game. She just wishes there was an easy way to check the schedule of her husbands favorite teams so she could plan her days more accurately.

General Attributes:

· Loves fashion, shopping and spending time with family
· Very organized
· Busy between her duties as a mother and her work

Representative User Needs:

· Would like an easy way to find game times

Sarah - Negative persona

Background:

· 30 Year Old Female
· Office Worker
· Lives in Schaumburg

User Profile:

Sarah works in a cubicle downtown. She was born in Montana and moved to Illinois for more career opportunities. She doesn't have any interests in any Chicago sports teams. She finds sports to be a waste of time. She'd rather be productive than attend or watch a game. She has never been to a sporting event in Chicago and doesn't plan to.

General Attributes:

· Always trying to grow professionally
· Enjoys networking and meeting people
· Tries to fill her schedule with productive activities

Representative User Needs:

· Has no current need for this website

Dale - Served persona

Background:

· 45 Year Old Male
· Mechanic
· Lives in Irving Park

User Profile:

Dale is a pretty simple guy. He works 6 days a week at the local shop. He grew up working on cars and has continued doing it his entire life. He was born and raised in Chicago and really loves his hometown teams. Dale keeps up on his teams the old fashioned way, through the radio and newspapers. He doesn't have Internet on his phone and doesn't have a functioning computer at home. He tries to keep things simple.

General Attributes:

· Not very tech savvy (No computer or Internet)
· Loves working on cars
· Marries with three children

Representative User Needs:

· No real need for the website because he doesn't get on the Internet. But still loves his Chicago teams

Detailed Task Identification

Post a comment to an article

Beginning state: Starting at the home page, an unregistered user wants to post a comment to an article.

Completing steps:
1. Click on an article title to expand the article
2. Scroll down to the comment session
3. Click on the comment session and be redirected to the register page
4. Fill in the register form and be redirected to the article page
5. Submit a comment with a title and text

End state: A new comment shows up under the article.

Expected response time: 4 minutes

Edit user preferences

Beginning state: A registered user (not logged in) wants to change user preferences. He/she wants to add Sox to his/her favorite teams.

Completing steps:
1. Log into the user account
2. Click on the username to enter personal control panel
3. Select Sox under favorite teams field
4. Save the change

End state: Sox is showing up as users favorite team.

Expected response time: 3 minutes

Beginning state: A registered user is on the home page not logged in.

Completing steps:
1. Click on an team tab and go to the team page
2. Locate Dec. 3rd, 2011 on the calendar section
3. Click on the game and pull out the details of it

End state: The page shows up the game information of the team on Dec. 3rd, 2011
