This is what the media would have you believe.
The ssd (stab stab die) art collective is a small community of artists from Brooklyn, Detroit, Chicago and Montreal. Formed by childhood friends, the art of the ssd art collective spans various media’s including music and various graphical designs. The members of the ssd art collective include published writers and poets, recording artist's, professionally trained and self taught painters, photographers, dancers and tattoo artists.
The mass of the graphical artwork designed and produced by the ssd art collective comes from two members who now reside in Michigan. The visual art you see combines member 1's skill of paint and production with member 2's photographic work.
The ssd art collective is a collaboration of memories. The revival and reversal of the place and moments that once were. Our concentration: the places that art is furthest from; the day to day and the mundane of the word forgotten. The alleyways and back entrances. ssd art collective is not abstract; it is concrete in its deliverances and exploitation of life's little gesture. In all things the ssd art collective is an attempt to revitalize the moments and pieces of human experience that are now lost. The reanimation of the faded is realized in these images of common moments, urban decay and bits of happiness.
“Remembering is the key”. For this reason the members of the ssd art collective and all of it’s sister projects remain unnamed. We believe in the power of producing our art, not in the concern of assigning names.
