Request Aid

Please read the following guidelines and procedures that govern applying for and receiving emergency assistance from SwiftAid.org. Application for aid can be made by clicking the "Apply" link at the bottom of this page.

Types of Aid

SwiftAid.org provides food and shelter in active emergency zones and cash grants for disaster victims who have suffered property damage. We also coordinate mass transportation to emergency shelters both within and outside of affected areas.

Who is Eligible?

All victims of federally declared emergencies or disasters are eligible for SwiftAid.org assistance. Food and shelter are immediately available to anyone who comes to a SwiftAid.org M*A*S*H unit within an affected area. No one will be denied food and shelter, regardless of legal status. Continued use of SwiftAid.org resources is subject to the authentication of need, as determined by the screening process.

Cash assistance is granted to victims who can be positively identified and have demonstrable need. It is limited to those who are U.S. citizens or otherwise have the legal right to be in the United States. Illegal immigrants will be considered on a case-by-case basis in consultation with state and federal authorities. Positive identification is required for cash assistance as a safeguard against fraud and abuse. Applicants must supply their social security number, driver's license number, or other governmentally issued personal identification number.

Conditions that warrant assistance may include, but are not limited to, the incurrence of property damage and the loss of access to essential goods and services or to personal resources. Amounts of cash assistance are determined on a case-by-case basis and with reference to the degree of individual need and cash on reserve.

The Screening Process

All emergency and disaster victims must apply for extended access to food and shelter and for cash assistance. Applicants will be screened for approval. The screening process serves the purpose of validating need and reducing or eliminating fraud and abuse.

It's as simple as that. After your interview, our officers will inspect your property, if necessary, analyse the data of your application, and make a determination with regard to your cash grant or continued access to SwiftAid.org assistance.
